• Size U.S. J /10 (6 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. Stuffing. Small amount of smooth, black yarn for embroidery.

MEASUREMENTS

Approx 9″ [23 cm] diameter x 7″ [18 cm] tall, excluding trunk.

GAUGE

10 sc and 11 rows = 4″ [10 cm].

BASKET  Note: Join each rnd with sl st to first sc. Ch 2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. 8 sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join. 16 sts. 3rd rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 24 sts. 4th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Join. 32 sts. 5th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Join. 40 sts. 6th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Join. 48 sts. 7th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. Join. 56 sts. 8th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 6 sc. Join. 64 sts. 9th rnd: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc around. Join. Place marker at end of rnd. 10th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each sc around. Join.  Trunk Note: Trunk is worked in spiral. Do not join rnds. Place marker on first st to mark beg of each rnd. Ch 20. Join with sl st to first ch to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each ch around. 20 sc. 2nd and 3rd rnds: 1 sc in each sc around. 4th rnd: *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Ears  Ch 2. 1st row: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn. 2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc to end of row. 8 sc. Turn. 3rd row: Ch. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. 12 sc. Turn. 4th row: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * to end of row. 16 sc. Do not turn. 5th rnd: Ch 1.  Finishing

Lightly stuff Trunk. Sew Trunk and Ears to Basket as shown in photo.  With smooth black yarn, embroider eyes with satin stitch as shown in photo.
