  • 7 skeins Bernat Maker Big: Orchid
  • Crochet hook P/11.50mm
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Cardboard
Crochet Cat Bed

DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: *Pattern is worked in continuous rounds except portion marked otherwise. Use a stitch marker at beginning of row to keep place.
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc 10 into first ch.
Row 2: 2 hdc in each st around.
Row 3: *Hdc in st, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 4: *Hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 5: *Hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 6: *Hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 7: *Hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 8: *Hdc in next 6 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 9: *Hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 10: *Hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 11-16: Hdc in each st to end of row.
(Begin turning piece between rows for this portion of the pattern.)
Row 17: Turn, ch 2, hdc in every st except for the last 20 sts.
Row 18-23: Turn, ch 2, hdc in each st of previous row.
Row 24: Turn, ch 2, hdc in each st of previous row, ch 20, hdc into first st of the row to complete the opening.
(Work the rest of the piece in continuous rounds as before.)
Row 25-28:: Hdc in each st to end of row.
Row 29: *Hdc in next 8 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 30: *Hdc in next 7 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 31: *Hdc in next 6 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 32: *Hdc in next 5 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 33: *Hdc in next 4 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 34: *Hdc in next 3 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 35: *Hdc in next 2 sts, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 36: *Hdc in next st, hdc2tog in next st repeat from * to end of row.
Row 37: Hdc2tog in each st to end of row.
Cinch the opening closed and weave in ends.
Attach yarn to the top corner of the opening. Sc evenly around the opening. Sl st into the first sc and tie off. Weave in ends.
For added strength and structure, cut a piece of cardboard to the height of the finished bed and long enough to curve around the interior side without blocking the hole made in the front.
Paint cardboard. Let dry.
Form the cardboard into a curve and place inside the bed.
